Pleasantville Community School District Meeting of the Board of Education High School Media Center Tuesday, September 19, 2017 6:30 p.m. The Pleasantville School Board met on September 19, 2017 in the High School Library. Present: Padellford, Cook, Core, Danks and Sutter (via phone). 6:30 p.m. President Padellford called the meeting to order. Motion made by Danks and seconded by Core to approve the agenda. Motion carried (5-0). Superintendent Aylsworth shared that Ron Danks and Kenny Sutter were re-elected during the School Board Election held on September 12, 2017. Mr. Aylsworth expressed his appreciation to all Board members for their service. Motion made by Danks and seconded by Cook to adjourn. Motion carried (5-0). President Padellford declared the meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m. Organizational Meeting of the Board of Education Monday, September 19, 2017 High School Media Center President Pro tem Tony Aylsworth called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. The Oath of Office was administered to re-elected Board members Ron Danks and Kenny Sutter. Nominations were held for the position of Board President. Danks and Sutter nominated Troy Padellford to serve as President. Motion made by Danks and seconded by Core to name Troy Padellford as School Board President. Motion carried (5-0). Nominations were held for the position of Board Vice President. Danks nominated Mark Core to serve as Vice President. Motion made by Danks and seconded by Cook that Mark Core be named School Board President. Motion carried (5-0). The Oath of Office was administered to Board President Padellford and Vice President Core. Discussion was held regarding the time and location of regular Board meetings. Motion made by Danks and seconded by Core to keep the same meeting time and location; meetings will be held the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Media Center. Motion carried (5-0). Josh Cook volunteered to serve as the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) Delegate. Mark Core volunteered to serve as the representative to the Marion County Conference Board. Troy Padellford and Kenny Sutter volunteered to serve on the Negotiations Committee. Ron Danks volunteered to serve on the School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC) and Hall of Fame Committee. Motion was made by Danks and seconded by Core to appointment Jeff Krausman of Dickinson Law as the DistrictÕs legal counsel. Motion carried (5-0). Motion was made by Core and seconded by Danks to name the Knoxville Journal Express as the DistrictÕs official publication. Motion carried (5-0). Motion made by Danks and seconded by Cook to approve the following bank depository limits: Peoples Bank-$10 million; ISJIT-$4 million; and Bankers Trust-$4 million. Core abstained from the vote. Motion carried (4-0). Motion was made by Danks and seconded by Cook to appoint Tony Aylsworth as the DistrictÕs level one investigator. Motion carried (5-0). Motion was made by Danks and seconded by Core to appoint Joe Mrstik as the DistrictÕs level two investigator. Motion carried (5-0). Motion was made by Danks and seconded by Core to adjourn. Motion carried (5-0). 7:01 p.m. President Padellford declared the meeting adjourned.
