City of Bussey Council Meeting November 6, 2017 5:00 P.M. At City Hall The Bussey City Council met in a regular session Monday, November 6, 2017 at 5:00pm. Mayor Larry Pinegar presiding. Council Members present: John Price, Leann Sanders, Steph Sterner&Wade Bonnett. Absent: Steve Finch. Others attending; City Clerk Nicole Beary, Fire Chief Brian DesPlanque, Deputy Nick Gilchrist, Trevor Pinegar and Jocelyn Beary. Council member Price made a motion to approve the consent agenda as follows: tentative agenda, minutes of previous sessions, bank reconciliation reports and monthly budget reports. Sanders seconded, all ayes, motion carries. Council member Sanders made a motion to approve the monthly bills. Bonnett seconded, all ayes, motion carries. The council and mayor reviewed the monthly report from the Marion County Sheriff's Dept. The council and mayor reviewed the monthly report from the Fire Dept. Fire Chief DesPlanque reported that the main ambulance is in DM for repairs, they are using the old ambulance. They are working on control burns and lagoon will be burned in the near future. The council and mayor reviewed the monthly report from the library. Steve Finch resigned from the Library Board. They are working on finding a replacement. The Library will be decorating a tree for Festival of Trees at Marion County Park. New Business: Council member Sterner made a motion to approve Little Sabers Daycare to list Bussey Community Center as evacuation site in case of emergency. Sanders seconded, all ayes, motion carries. Council member Sterner made a motion to approve City Clerk attending Budget Workshop in Johnston on November 30th. Price seconded, all ayes, motion carries. Council member Price made a motion to set Public Hearing for Adoption of Floodplain Management Ordinance 205 for December 4, 2017 at 5pm. Sanders seconded, all ayes, motion carries. Old Business: None. Clerk's Comments/Updates: -Food pantry, City Hall, November 15th, 9am. -City Clerk will be attending Budget Workshop November 30th. -Next Council meeting will be December 4th. -Blood Drive, City Hall, December 6th. Public/Citizens Comments: Trevor Pinegar from Circus of Freaks Haunted House thanked the City and Council for allowing them to hold their haunted house in Bussey this year. They had a good turnout, ranked 3rd in the state of Iowa for good haunted houses and hope to work with the City again next year. Also, thanks to 4th of July Committee for helping make it a successful season. Mayor Comments/Updates: Mayor reported new radar sign is up on Fifth St. and seems to be doing a good job of making people aware of their speed. Another radar sign will be purchased and placed South on T23/Merrill. Sherri Garrett would like to donate a bench and plaque in memory of Derek Springer, to be placed at North Park by basketball court. Council member Price made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Bonnett seconded, all ayes, motion carries.
